It’s a Glamorous Life
Week two in New York has come to an end and I still can’t believe how lucky I am to be here! I feel like I have already done so much and I can’t believe that I still have four weeks left to discover even more of New York. This week has been crazy and full of so many fun adventures. I have really felt like I’ve been leading a glamorous life with all of the crazy opportunities that I was given. So I have decided to share it all with you!
On Tuesday night we had the chance to go see The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! And the even greater part was that we were assigned the front row!!! Yes, you can see us clearly and close up a few times throughout the show. Jimmy even came over and talked to us during breaks and gave me a high five. I would definitely say that I’m now on my way to stardom!
It was a really fun show to go see. My entire family loves watching Jimmy Fallon. It was a dream come true to get to see him live and up close. The guests we saw were Aziz Ansari, Kathrine Waterston, and Blondie! It was funny and entertaining and I would encourage everyone to try and get tickets if you have the chance. Tickets are free and all you have to do is apply for them online.
Now, I am not the biggest baseball fan. Honestly…I think that baseball is pretty boring. But going to the Yankees game was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the week! The environment that comes with being at a baseball game is amazing and the fact that it was a Yankees game made it even better. Of course, I had to eat a hot dog and some crackerjacks – it wouldn’t be an authentic experience if I hadn’t. I had a blast hanging out with my friends, eating good food, and enjoying America’s favorite pastime.
Fashion is one of my favorite things in the world! And New York is a great place to be in when it comes to the fashion industry. This week we made our way to the Fashion Institute of Technology Museum. It was really fun to see original designs by famous designers and see outfits warn by stars at performances and on red carpets. It was a really small exhibit but I still enjoyed being there. It made me wish that I had the talent of drawing… If I could draw I would have totally applied to go to a fashion design school!
The best part of this entire week was going to see the musical Anastasia! Yes!! I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket and got to go on a “journey to the past” with Anya and Dimitri! I have loved Anastasia from the moment it came out in 1997 and have grown up belting all of the songs at the top of my lungs. I will admit that, even as an adult, I still blast the songs in my room or in my car on a regular basis. And to have the chance to see the original broadway cast of this production was a dream come true!
I have grown up being in musicals so my appreciation for Broadway goes back as far as I can remember. When I heard that they were making a musical of Anastasia I was overjoyed! And then when I found out that it was going to be playing in New York while I am here I totally freaked out! And yes! It is totally worth they hype! I even wrote a review on it for my class.
After the show I made my way over to the stage door and had the amazing opportunity to meet Christine Altomare (Anya) and Derek Klena (Dimitri) and the rest of the cast too! They were so gracious and sweet! Christine Altomare even gave me a huge hug (my inner fangirl was freaking out). I would definitely recommend this show to anyone and everyone! If you’re going to be in New York while the show is running you will regret NOT getting tickets to this amazing production!
I honesty can’t believe how lucky I am to be here. This trip has been insane so far and I can’t wait for all of the glamorous adventures that are still to come! Until next week – I send my love from the upper east side of Manhattan!
XOXO – Sadie
